Dallas-based Fogo de Chao, an upscale Brazilian steakhouse serving cuts of meat from an open flame, is looking to expand its footprint with over 20 new locations expected to open through 2025.
Fogo de Chao CEO Barry McGowan did not reveal if North Texas will be part of the expansion menu, but the company will open a second restaurant in San Antonio 15 years after opening its first location on the Riverwalk. More locations are headed to other domestic cities such as Oklahoma City, Nashville, Washington D.C., Seattle, New York and more, McGowan said.
“As a brand headquartered in Dallas with restaurant locations currently in Addison, Austin, Dallas, Friendswood, Houston, Plano, San Antonio and Irving, expanding in various Texas markets like San Antonio is part and parcel of our overall growth strategy alongside entering entirely new markets,” McGowan said.
The restaurant brand also plans to expand internationally with new locations in Canada, Philippines, Turkey and Brazil.
"The increasing demand for unique and immersive dining experiences from our guests continues to prompt us to explore expanding into new cities and regions.” McGowan told Dallas Business Journal. “We identified domestic and international areas with untapped potential that allow us to strategically open Fogo de Chao in markets where our concept will best resonate, as well as build upon existing markets by opening second restaurant locations.”
Fogo openings in 2024 and 2025 will have new features such as enclosed patios, rooftops and lounges. The brand spends about $4 million to secure a new location, McGowan said.
The restaurant recently opened its fourth DFW location at Cypress Waters in Irving in 2023.
