DALLAS — Editor's note: The video published above is a Good Morning Texas segment with Carte Blanche back in 2021.
Carte Blanche, an award-winning fine dining restaurant and bakery on Lower Greenville, has closed, according to an Instagram post from its owners.
In the announcement, the owners said the bakery did well, but the tasting menu restaurant struggled.
"Most people don’t come to Greenville for a fancy dinner," the post said.
Carte Blanche earned five stars from Fobes’s Travel Guide in 2023 and a five diamond designation from AAA in 2022.
Even though the bakery does well, the owners said "transitioning to a 100% bakery would require a significant investment in expensive equipment. After consulting with others, they sold the space and teased an announcement about future plans that is to come soon.
"The timing felt right, so we decided to move on," the owners said.
The Carte Blanche owners also urged other restauranteurs to considering hiring their staff.
They'll be selling all of their wine inventory on Saturday, June 8 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
