Bad Chicken opens in former Back Home BBQ spot near Dallas' Lower Greenville

Bad Chicken’s menu includes wings, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches and more with 20-plus sauces and dry rubs to coat them.

DALLAS — Editor's note: This story was originally published in the Dallas Business Journal here.

Bad Chicken, a locally owned wing spot, opened its newest location April 9 near Lower Greenville.

Created by owner Bobby Shuey and chef Tim Woehr, the duo originally opened a test location in November 2022 in Preston Center but shuttered in February to open the flagship store at 5014 Ross Ave. The new location replaced Back Home BBQ, which was struggling to keep its doors open in 2015 and announced its permanent closing in 2019 via Facebook post.

Shuey said he wanted to be sure of the brand's success before committing to future growth plans.

Marinated with a new look, the space spans 2,800 square feet and features a patio, arcade and drive-thru.

Bad Chicken’s menu includes wings, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches and more with 20-plus sauces and dry rubs to coat them, such as sweet pepper jelly, bang bang, buffalo atomic and more. The restaurant now offers beer, wine and cocktails ranging from a frozen Jack and Coke to its own take on an Old Fashioned.

Shuey’s vision for the new location, and Bad Chicken overall, is a place for friends and family alike and is "not only a fast and easy option but also a neighborhood restaurant with housemade items and a lot of care put into the menu."

Bad Chicken near Lower Greenville harbors indoor seating for 44 guests and patio seating for 40 guests. Bad Chicken will operate Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
