SOUTHLAKE, Texas — A recently released video shows a furry critter getting caught stealing a package off a North Texas porch.
The Southlake Department of Public Safety posted a thread on X detailing how a possum stole a Tiff's Treats package on Jan. 27, 2024. The department also included surveillance video showing the possum crawling up from the right side of the screen before taking the bag of cookies and leaving the blue balloon behind.
The gift was for a 15-year-old boy that included a balloon, cookies and icing, the department said.
"Dr. M’s son was a little shocked the next morning when he saw a bag of Tiff’s Treats icing & a balloon, but no cookies," the department posted in part on X. "After a little junior detecting, the family found the mangled & empty bag of cookies in the side yard. They checked the cameras & found THIS!"
The department suggested asking a neighbor to help out if you know you're going to have a package left on your porch when you are out of town to avoid a critter stealing your package.
"Those sharp grisly teeth are so nice," the Southlake Department of Public Safety also posted. "We just love everything about them. *nervous laughter* While this is obviously a cheeky little post, we hope it brings attention to making sure that you bring in your packages daily!"
