North Texas has rallied around the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the NBA Finals in some interesting ways.
SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium is joining in on the Finals festivities, naming two Shovel Nose Guitar Fish Luka and Lively, after Luka Doncic and rookie Derrick Lively II. Guitar Fish are a critically endangered species due to habitat loss and overfishing. SEA LIFE says they hope the two new additions will help raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
Luka and Lively were born at SEA LIFE Minnesota, one of the only aquariums who have been successful at breeding Guitar Fish. After the Mavericks beat the Timberwolves, they were named in honor of the Western Conference champions.
