'Don't be nasty!' Video shows deputies coming across 9-foot-long alligator in Ruskin

Deputies received help from Florida Fish and Wildlife to reel the gator and relocate him.

RUSKIN, Fla. — When it comes to Florida, you never know when you'll come across an alligator.

Sometimes you found them in a lake, other times you find them right in the middle of the road.

That was the case for several members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office who came across a nine-foot alligator Tuesday morning in the middle of the road in Ruskin.

Bodycam footage posted on the agency's Facebook page shows deputies approaching the reptile while it sits idly in the middle of the roadway. The video shows the road was in front of a gated home.

"Hi big boy," a deputy says while approaching the gator.

In the video, the alligator can be heard hissing back as deputies approach it.

"Come on, don't be nasty!" the deputies said in response.

With the help of officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, they were able to reel the animal out and relocate him to a safe place. The video shows the gator being placed into the back of a trunk with another one with its mouth taped around.

"🐊 Never a dull moment in Hillsborough County 🐊," the sheriff's office said in their social media post. "Just another day here in Florida!"
