A new adventure: Off-road park lets Jeep and ATV owners navigate North Texas terrain

Lone Star Off Road Park features nearly 150 acres and 15 miles of trails

DALLAS — Anyone looking for adventure has a new spot in Grand Prairie to fuel their adrenaline rush.

Lone Star Off Road Park in Grand Prairie allows Jeep, ATV and other four-wheeled vehicles to roam its 150 acres and 15 miles of trails.

“We’re the only off-road park in the Metroplex,” owner Ken Schaumburg said.

The park opened last year near the similarly named Lone Star Park horse racing complex. The trails weave through the woods, next to Bear Creek, offering patrons thrilling terrain and great views.

“It is surprisingly dramatic back here,” Schaumburg said.

Schaumburg loves taking his Jeep off road, but he says before he opened Lone Star, he had to drive two hours to find an off-road park.

“Then I decided, well heck, I’ll just put in my own jeep park,” he said.

The park is open Wednesday through Sunday from dawn until dusk.

Entry is $20 per person for a full day pass and children under 14 are free.

“It’ll surprise you that there’s land this pretty right in the middle of Dallas-Fort Worth," Schaumburg said.
