A missing dog was found and rescued in a North Texas creek, reuniting with its owners

A missing dog "Bubba" went missing from his Sachse home for several days before being found and rescued from a creek.

GARLAND, Texas — A Sachse family is reunited with their dog this week after it was rescued from a creek Thursday.

Joan Landry's dog, Bubba, was spotted by a golfer miles away from home in Rowlett Creek Thursday, according to a press release from the city of Garland. The dog appeared scared and unable to get out of the steep creekbed, according to the release.

Garland Animal Services attempted to rescue the dog but couldn't read Bubba. The Garland Fire Department's rescue crew responded and went into waste deep water to rescue the dog.

Bubba had a collar and tags, allowing Garland Animal Rescue to quickly contact its owner and arrange a reunification the following day.

"I was so relieved and shocked because we had given up. He had been gone for four days," Landry said. "We looked everywhere and couldn’t find him. Then out of the blue, I got a phone call and picked up and they were like “is this the owner of Bubba” Yes well we have your dog? Come to find out he had been rescued by the fire department and was in Garland and we were just totally surprised."

Landry's family searched for Bubba for several days with no luck.

Bubba traveled about 5 to 6 miles away from his home to end up in the creek. His owner was surprised by where Bubba was found because he tends to shy away from water, the release states.

"I’m totally thankful and grateful so much for all of the help," Landry said. "First responders are awesome."
