It only takes a few minutes of conversation to know what Adam Sandoval values.
First, his Harley. Then, his trusty side kick, Scooter.
And lastly, an issue so important to him he couldn't help but do something.
"I know if I was in the service and I was dying out in the field for my country, I would want my family taken care of," Sandoval said.
He is talking about the project he's started combining all of his interests. In November, he started a year-long trip – leaving his home in Florida with Scooter, to travel to all 696 Harley Davidson dealerships in the United States.
"I never was a soldier, I never served," Sandoval said. "Always wanted to, and I regret never serving."
At each, he is raising money, 100 percent of which will go not for gas, but for the future of children who lost parents at war.
"That's my donation, my time my energy…I'm paying for the campaign. Everybody else is paying for money to help the kids, and together we're doing something that I'm very proud of," he said.
There is encouragement at every stop, including one at American Eagle Harley Davidson in Corinth, TX on Saturday.
"He's giving back to the veterans who gave their lives for us and our families, let them get and education," supporter Charlie Smither said. "I think he's doing an awesome thing for them."
"You just can't find the words to praise him enough for what he's doing for kids," added fellow supporter Dick Rogers.
And it's those kids that Sandoval keeps in mind when he's biking through bad weather, sleeping on friends' couches, or backtracking to another store.
"Everything I live on fits on a motorcycle," he said. "And I'm richer than I've ever been in my life."
He's living with purpose. Time and money he's happy to give to families with loved ones who gave all.
"These people are giving a lot of sacrifices. I'm doing my part. I'm giving it one year and I'm doing my part to let them know they didn't do it in vain," Sandoval said. "We appreciate what they do."
