Meet a cat for coffee: Dallas Cat Cafe aims to connect cats with owners

An East Dallas Cat Café aims to connect furry friends with potential parents while providing a space to drink coffee and work.

DALLAS — An East Dallas café is not only serving up coffee with sugar and cream but with dozens of cats to keep customers company.

Whiskers and Soda Cat Café opened on Garland Road last year with furry friends to share a coffee break and also a unique opportunity to find feline forever homes.

“A cat will come and sit on their lap or sit on their laptop and they just fall in love,” said Stovall, the café’s owner.

In addition to the café, Stovall leads A Voice for All Paws rescue organization. The cats that peruse the café are ready for adoption. Stovall said she and her husband got the idea after visiting a cat café in England and thought it the perfect way to connect rescued cats with new owners.

“It really increases exposure for the animals and has increased adoptions,” said Stovall.

Around 60 cats are in the café at one time and a big board on the wall shows each cat’s name and information along with a QR code for customers who want to quickly apply.

Stovall said 478 cats have already been adopted this year.
