PARKER -- Even in the middle of a sweltering summer day, you'll find plenty of tourists making the trek to Southfork Ranch in Parker -- the home of the fictional Ewing family.
From 1978 to 1991 it was the backdrop for the hit TV show Dallas.
"It was such a unique show because it told the story along with adding drama to it and keeping people on the edge of their seats," said Michael Portman, a tour guide for the ranch.
The house still stands as a tribute to the TV show that made it famous. The property remains in tact as an event center. This weekend there's something new coming.
"They want to kick this off every summer, they want it to be a well-known festival in Dallas," said Shannon White, a promoter for the first-ever Indie Summer Fair.
The new multi-cultural fair promises artisans from all around.
"We live together, so why not have fun together?" said Karthik Thambidurai, a restaurant owner and one of the event's sponsors.
The outside of the ranch is set up as a carnival that organizers hope will bring thousands to Parker.
"This is an outdoor event that is connected to Southfork Ranch which brings it a lot of visibility. And with summer and schools being off we expect at lot of people to come," Thambidurai continued.
It's a famous Parker property they hope will soon be known for something other than Dallas drama.
