DALLAS — If you've ever wanted to enter the world of "Bridgerton" or "Stranger Things," you may be in luck.
Netflix announced Tuesday it will bring Netflix House, a new "experiential entertainment venue," to Dallas in 2025, according to a press release from Netflix. The permanent venue, which will be located at the Galleria Dallas shopping center, builds on Netflix's other live experiences for shows like "Bridgerton," "Money Heist," "Stranger Things" and "Squid Game."
The Galleria location will be just one of two U.S. locations to see a Netflix House open in fall 2025. The other location will be in King of Prussia, Pa.
“Welcoming Netflix House to Galleria Dallas allows the center to sit at the forefront of the experiential economy, which is such a key aspect of retail today,” Angie Freed, Galleria Dallas general manager said in a statement.
Netflix selected the two locations because "they are part of two of the most popular shopping centers in America, boasting hundreds of retailers, high foot traffic, and proximity to major cities," according to a press release from Netflix.
According to Netflix, both locations will occupy former department store locations and will have footprints of more than 100,000 square feet.
“At Netflix House, you can enjoy regularly updated immersive experiences, indulge in retail therapy, and get a taste — literally — of your favorite Netflix series and films through unique food and drink offerings,” Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer, said in a release.
“This is the granddaddy, the is the grand poohbah of concepts,” Freed added.
She said the addition of Netflix’s Netflix House will also help retail stores in the mall.
“Retail itself is our story,” said Freed. “That is evolving, and it's involved to experimental retail and that's what Netflix is doing.”
The move is good news to Bart Weiss, a film teacher and critic.
“Entertainment has to be a little bit of this, little bit of this, little bit of this,” Weiss said.
The city of Dallas released a statement saying the city’s Office of Economic Development is working closely with the Galleria and Netflix throughout the process.
“The arrival of Netflix House in the Dallas International District will enable Dallas residents and their families to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment locally, further contributing to the city's rapid growth,” said Jaynie Schultz, who represents the area on the Dallas City Council.
“The Galleria Dallas is a fixture in Dallas and now with Netflix House, it will be even more of a tourist destination. We are excited about all the developments in the Dallas International District to showcase the best of Dallas to visitors coming from near and wide,” said Craig Davis, President and CEO of Visit Dallas.
Netflix has previously launched 50 immersive experiences in 25 cities, including a stageplay prequel to "Stranger Things," and a murder mystery dinner inspired by the movie "Knives Out."
Netflix House is currently under construction at the Galleria on the northwest side of the shopping center.
