Yellowstone music supervisor hosting seminar for DFW musicians on how to get their music on TV, in movies

The seminar will be held on Oct. 8, hosted by the Fort Worth Film Commission.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Local musicians in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are in for a special opportunity next week thanks to the Fort Worth Film Commission and Hear Fort Worth

They'll be hosting a seminar on Oct. 8 at the iconic honkey tonk Billy Bob's Texas in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards, where musicians will hear from award-winning music supervisor Andrea von Foerster on how to get their music in film and TV shows. She has worked on music for Yellowstone and its numerous spin-off series', as well as countless films including (500) Days Of Summer throughout her career spanning two-plus decades.

Hearing from someone with the resume of von Foerster is priceless for these aspiring musical artists.

"Having Andrea visit Fort Worth to educate and receive what might be possible from our local music community is a massive opportunity," Lorena Leigh, also known as “The Cowgirl Mermaid,” said. "Syncs, like viral videos, have the potential to launch an artist's career to new heights. I am grateful that Hear Fort Worth is able to provide something like this for our grassroots creatives and excited to see what may come out of it."

Tami Thomsen of Ann Arkey Productions shared a similar sentiment from the administrative perspective, too.

"As a band manager, music and tv placements can be a game changer," said Thomsen. "The financial side can far out pay a song's streaming royalties. As, if not more importantly, having a song in a show like Yellowstone instantly exposes an artist to millions. One placement can launch a career."

Lou CharLe$, a Fort Worth hip-hop artist, said having someone of von Foerster's caliber in the industry invest in the Fort Worth music community is rare.

Yellowstone's creator, Taylor Sheridan, helped shine a light on the area and bring North Texas to the forefront of the industry.

Registration for the event is free, but an RSVP is required to attend. The seminar will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 8. Free parking is located across Stockyards Blvd directly east of Cooper’s BBQ.

Tom Martens, of Visit Fort Worth, told WFAA they expect upwards of 200 people to attend the event, but "have the ability to scale based on demand due to the size of Billy Bob’s Texas.
