DALLAS — Disney has released a pop punk cover album of its songs, and North Texas' own Bowling For Soup is included in the track list.

Disney unveiled the full album of songs and bands playing their songs after teasing two of them in the past month – Simple Plan performing "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from "The Lion King" and Magnolia Park performing "I2I" from "A Goofy Movie".

Bowling for Soup contributed a cover of the song "Friend Like Me" from "Aladdin" to the compilation.

The entire album, called "A Whole New Sound", also includes other covers from such stalwart pop-punk acts as Mayday Parade, Boys Like Girls, Yellowcard, We The Kings and more. It was released on Sept. 6.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first collaboration between Disney and Bowling For Soup, either. The band performed the theme song for the Disney Channel series "Phineas and Ferb". Lead singer Jaret Reddick also voiced Danny from the show's rock band named "Love Händel."

Actually, at this point, Reddick is something of a veteran when it comes to voicing animated characters: It's not Disney-related, but Reddick also provides the singing voice for the Irving-based entertainment venue chain Chuck E. Cheese's titular character.

Bowling For Soup hails from Wichita Falls, Texas, where Reddick and and other members of the band grew up, but the lead vocalist was born in Grapevine and lives in Prosper. These days, the band claims Denton as its home base.
