Texas Theatre offering free movies this weekend as part of national campaign

June 28-29, the independent Dallas theater will play a number of movies with free admission.

DALLAS — Summer is here and it is getting hot outside in North Texas.

To beat the heat, Texas Theatre is offering free admission to five movies this weekend.

Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29, the historic Dallas independent theater is partnering with Pluto TV as part of the streaming service's "Summer of Cinema" campaign.

Pluto TV is offering free screenings all summer long as a part of the campaign in 14 major U.S. cities.

The showings at the Texas Theatre will be new movies like the critically-acclaimed animated feature Robot Dreams and fan-favorite classics like The Truman Show.

The free tickets will be available at the door, first come, first serve.
