FORT WORTH, Texas — Leon Bridges, a Grammy-winning recording artist, announced he will release his fourth full-length LP, Leon, on Oct. 4.
Bridges grew up in Fort Worth and made it clear in a letter to fans that much of his album will be inspired and influenced by Panther City. So influenced in fact, the Fort Worth nickname "Panther City" gets a spot on the tracklist.
"In many ways, Leon has been in the works since my childhood," Bridges said in the letter. "This record is about simpler days. It’s about time spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today. It’s soulful music in the truest sense – it’s imbued with my soul."
It is Bridges' first album in three years and the first single, "Peaceful Place" is out now, according to a press release from Sony Music. The official video for the song was filmed on the outskirts of Mexico City and pulls back the curtain on the recording of the album, the release states.
"I’m excited to share these stories about my home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about where I’m from, with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey,” Bridges said.
The album was produced by Ian Fitchuk (who produces for Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rogers) at El Desierto on the outskirts of Mexico City. The 13-track album "unfolds as his most poignant, powerful, and personal body of work to date," the release states.
