Four Day Weekend to leave Fort Worth's Sundance Square after 27 years

The group announced yesterday it will now renew its lease in Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth-based comedy troupe Four Day Weekend is leaving Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth after 27 years, the group announced in a statement to social media Friday.

Sundance Square is a 35-block commercial, entertainment and residential area owned by billionaire Ed Bass in downtown Fort Worth. Four Day Weekend is the latest in a string of Sundance Square tenants to not renew their lease downtown.

"After decades of jokes, applauses and more standing ovations than we can count it is time for Four Day to pack up our oversized shoes, rubber chickens and bid Sundance Square farewell," the statement reads.

The group will perform 30 more shows in the downtown Fort Worth location before the lease ends in July. Meanwhile, they will continue performing at the group's Dallas location while searching for a new venue in Fort Worth, according to the statement.

Reata, a restaurant known for its rooftop dining, will also leave Sundance Square in July. Four Day Weekend shares a building with the restaurant. Reata will move into a new temporary location in July on the ground floor of The Tower building at 530 Throckmorton before the restaurant moves into a new, permanent location.

A representative for Sundance Square did not respond to a request for comment.
