FORT WORTH, Texas — The 2024 CrossFit Games will take place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth starting Thursday. The four-day event will run through Aug. 11 and athletes from around the world will be in town to compete.
CrossFit is a fitness program comprised of varied, high-intensity, functional movements, according to CrossFit's website. The organization calls its athletes "the fittest on earth," the top 40 men and women from seven qualifying competitions from around the world will compete for the title of fittest.
The event is sold out, but the games will also feature a CrossFit Festival Experience at the Will Rogers Memorial Center near Dickies Arena. It will be open to the public and feature vendors, a live stream viewing area, and a spectator workout space where you can try the exercises the athletes perform.
The CrossFit Games will also be streamed on ESPN+.
“Fort Worth is a proven, easily accessible destination for high-profile events, and we’re excited to add to the growing number of sports and entertainment options at the state-of-the-art Dickies Arena,” Don Faul, CEO of CrossFit, said in a press release. "Love of sport is in the DNA of most Texans, and we can’t think of a more enthusiastic audience for the Games.”
The competition will include team and individual events and the competition exercises will test athlete's fitness in ten areas: Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, flexibility, power, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Some of those events will include ring muscle-ups, a 42,195-meter row, or even a 600-yard log carry. Often the challenges are unknown until the athletes step into the competition.
