Things to do in Dallas-Fort Worth this weekend: NASCAR, street food, high school film fest and more

There are a few other foodie events, if you're looking to snag a plate or two.

Whether you're looking for a feast for your eyes, soul, or stomach, there are plenty of ways to pack your plates in North Texas this weekend.

Just make sure you're able to make it in the office on Monday 😉

Here's a look at what's happening in Dallas-Fort Worth this weekend:

Friday, April 12

NASCAR Triple-Header Weekend (Fort Worth, all weekend)

Whether you're a NASCAR fan or not, this three-day event will have plenty of things to keep you racing around Texas Motor Speedway.

The weekend will circle around three big race series: The SpeedyCash.com 250 (Friday), Andy's Frozen Custard 300 (Saturday),and the Autotrader Echopark Automotive 400 (Sunday). If you're not looking to buy a weekend ticket, ticket prices vary for each day.

There will also be tons of free off-track entertainment, like the Pardi BBQ Showdown, a pre-race concert from 38 Special, acrobats, a lumberjack show, a contortionist, and much more.

Texas Street Food Festival (Arlington, Saturday & Sunday)

Cheat day(s), anyone?

The 2nd annual Texas Street Food Fest will be at Texas Live! this weekend. 

The main entree: Over 30 local food trucks and restaurants will sell items at $5 or less. That's topped off with a cheese fry bar, free hard seltzer samplings, food demonstrations and eating competitions.

For sides, you can check out live entertainment, axe throwing, mechanical bull riding, a vendor market, a kids-friendly Fun Zone and more.

Tickets to the festival start at about $10. Dig in, y'all!

Sunday, April 14

OK2BX Film Festival for High School Film Makers (Dallas)

From 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, you can check out part of DFW's next generation of filmmakers.

The OK2BX (OK To Be Extraordinary) Film Festival received over 100 submission from within and outside of North Texas. 

The films are judged in categories of animation, inclusivity, kindness, LGBTQIA+, and smartphone. They're then assessed by an expert panel of judges.

Festival attendees will watch the finalist film submissions. There will also a pre-event red carpet celebration and a presentation of awards and scholarships.

Tickets start at $15.

The OK2BX Foundation raises money to go to scholarships for graduating high school students who show a dedication to kindness and inclusivity.
