DALLAS — Happy Fourth of July weekend, y’all!

While technically the holiday is on Thursday, that doesn’t mean the Independence Day celebrations stop there.

Whether you want to celebrate the weekend with family festivities, adults-only comedy shows or an art walk everyone can enjoy, Dallas-Forth Worth has something for you.

Here’s a look at what is happening this weekend.

Friday, July 5

Red, White and Boots Stockyards July 4th Celebration (Fort Worth, all weekend)

The Fort Worth Stockyards is throwing its hat into the ring of Fourth of July celebrations packed with family fun.

The festivities run all weekend long with multiple rodeos, Pendleton Trolley Bar and lawn games.

If you’d prefer lounging in the sun over catching a matinee rodeo or watching the Legends of Texas Gunfight Shows, there will also be a Livestock Exchange Lawn Party. Enjoy the picnic seating and umbrellas while drinking a $6 Ranch20 cocktail and listening to live music.

Or, explore more of the Stockyards with a Trinity River Excursion offered at 3 p.m. each day. For more information on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s trip, click here.

Art Walk at The Oak Cliff Assembly (Dallas)

Skip the art gallery costs and fees while supporting local businesses at this year’s Art Walk at The Oak Cliff Assembly.

The annual event gives over 100 local artists a platform to showcase their work in a non-traditional setting. Enjoy back-to-back programming from noon to 8 p.m. featuring music curated by Top Ten records, flash tattoos by Bat & Cave Tattoo and live graffiti and mural creation.

Doors open at 2 p.m. for the Apprentice Creative Space campus, but the art walk kicks off at the Oak Cliff Brewery at noon. The night ends with a DJ set by Cosmic Girl Alaska.

Dallas Comedy Club Open Mic (Dallas, 18+, every Sunday)

Curious to see if you have the comedy chops to make it on centerstage?

The Dallas Comedy Club is hosting an open mic this Sunday evening where aspiring comedians can test out five minutes of material in front of an audience. The show starts at 4:30 p.m., but in-person sign-ups for performance slots start 30 minutes before.

Tickets are free and the performance is for ages 18 and up. If you’re not up to testing your set right now, open mics are hosted every Sunday.
