DALLAS — The Stoneleigh P, a fixture in Uptown Dallas for more than 50 years, is closing its Maple Avenue location April 13 ahead of its move to 4218 Lemmon Avenue.
The Stoneleigh P’s closing will be short-lived, though. It’s expected to open in its new location on Lemmon Avenue – which was most recently home to an Eggsellent Cafe – later this spring. Laura Garrison, who co-owns the bar with her father and the bar’s founder, Tom, signed a 10-year lease on the new space on Lemmon Avenue.
Garrison previously told WFAA that patrons can expect to find much of the same décor, including the pool table, jukeboxes and pharmacy cabinets (the “P” is short for pharmacy, which is what the Maple Avenue space was before it became a bar) in the new space.
The menu is also expected to remain much the same. Garrison, though, is expected to take on more of an ownership role in the new location.
As Garrison explained on our Y’all-itics podcast last summer, the search for a new home for the P began after the bar’s building was sold to new landlords during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new landlords didn’t renew the bar's lease upon its expiration this April.
But before the final closing time on Maple Avenue April 13, the Stoneleigh P will host a goodbye dance party April 6 with music from the band Dingos beginning at 3 p.m. followed by a set from DJ DeLuna starting at 7 p.m.
