An Uptown Dallas bar that many thought was relegated to the history books is making its return under a new owner.
Thomas Avenue Beverage Company is expected to reopen Dec. 12 expected to reopen Dec. 12 at 2901 Thomas Ave. under the well-seasoned Dallas bar owner and mixologist Eddie Campbell.
TABC will round out Campbell's portfolio of successful Uptown bars, joining The Standard Pour and Parliament. All three will be within a few blocks of each other.
CultureMap reported the new-but-old TABC will act as an upscale neighborhood tavern that will combine elements of Campbell’s other concepts — a sophisticated yet casual experience not built for the typical 21-year-old.
Campbell, better known as "Luckie," told CultureMap he wants to provide a place for people who get excited about a fancy wine, not a fake ID.
TABC first opened in 1995, attracting the post-grad young professionals of Dallas to Uptown and helping solidify the area's reputation as a fast-paced business hub with places to play after office hours, something that wouldn't feel out of place in New York City.
The bar shuttered in 2013. Over the past decade, the space became home to other operators with concepts hoping to live up to TABC’s heyday.
When the space freed up once again, Campbell and his partners jumped at the opportunity to get into the space before settling on bringing back a new take on the beloved bar.
The 2,500-square-foot space in a century-old building underwent a 13-month renovation to install new flooring and a kitchen in addition to outdoor modifications like a new deck in its back area.
Its menu was created by chef Nathan Edwards and will feature shared plates, panini, flatbreads and salads.
Its beverage menu is robust, including craft cocktails, beer, wine and seltzers. There will be signature drinks like its TABC 75, a spin on the Mambo Taxi from Mi Cocina, and a Buttered Apple Old-Fashioned.
