FORT WORTH, Texas — The Bill Picket Invitational Rodeo continues its 40th Anniversary national tour in Fort Worth this month with a twist.
Local music artists will compete in the Soul Country Music Star contest.
The 40th BPIR takes place August 17 at Cowtown Coliseum with Emmy Award-winning actor and entertainer Obba Babatundé serving as Grand Marshall. He is a veteran actor with 50 years of acting and entertainment under his belt and currently starring on the hit show S.W.A.T.
Babatunde will also host the Soul Country Music Star talent search at Club Ritzy Speakeasy in Fort Worth on Thursday, August 15.
The audience will help decide the Fort Worth winner who will advance to the Soul Country Music Star Grand Finale for a chance to win $10,000, potential music streaming opportunities, and more.
"You are going to get to see some of the greatest talent, Soul Country Music Stars, that Dallas Fort Worth and the surrounding area has to offer, So, I want to make sure we get everyone to come out and support this event," Babatundé said.
The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is at 1:30 and 7:30 pm Saturday at Cowtown Coliseum.
