Richard Solomon is a Multi-skilled Journalist and Reporter at WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas.
1) Who are you? My name is Richard Solomon. I’m from Indianapolis, Indiana, born and raised! How did I find my way to Texas you ask? Let me share my journey with you. My love for journalism and storytelling started while I was a student at Ben Davis High School. My then teacher and now mentor challenged me to shoot high school football highlights; and within the few hours I spent figuring out a camera I fell in love. After I graduated college at Indiana State University, my first shop {literally up the street from the university} was WTHI-10TV.
I learned everything from reporting, producing, to even anchoring. In December 2020, Columbus Ohio came calling. That’s where I grew as a better storyteller covering stories on Damar Hamlin, the tragic Tuskey Valley bus crash, and stories right in the heart of the community. I also received my first Emmy nomination in that market.
2) What are your interests? I love sports! I played baseball through college so needless to say you can catch me at many Texas Rangers games. I also love spending time outside and exploring the amazing cities in North Texas.
3) What do you like about working at WFAA? You always dream of working at a place like this; touching elbows with the best storytellers and photographers is what excites me the most!
4) What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you? The name Richard has a little bit of history behind it. It is also the first name of my father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather! A piece of my lineage I am proud to carry with me.
