LEWISVILLE -- Police say they have located the driver of a pickup truck that took off after hitting and killing a 45-year-old man who was walking in the road on State Highway 121 Business on Sunday.

The driver has been identified as a 16-year-old girl, police said Wednesday.

According to Lewisville police, it was about 8:40 p.m. when the pedestrian was struck in the right southbound lane of the 1600 block of the highway. Witnesses say the truck stopped for about 10 seconds after striking the man before leaving the scene and turning right onto westbound E. Southwest Parkway.

The man was rushed to a local hospital, but died a few hours later. His identity has not been released.

Witnesses described the truck as a two-tone, red over tan or grey Ford F-150 from between the 2004 and 2008 model years with tinted windows. Investigators at the scene found the oval “Ford” emblem and red plastic pieces from the front grill assembly at the scene, and video footage indicated damage to the right front headlight.

A tip led officers to an apartment complex Tuesday night, where they found the suspect vehicle. They have not identified the teen and said charges had not been filed as on Wednesday morning, but they expect to charge her with accident involving personal injury or death, which is a second-degree felony when a death occurs.
