DALLAS -- A woman acting as a Good Samaritan was killed Thursday night trying to help a man later arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
At about 11:30 p.m., witness Laride Conerly said he saw a driver, identified by police as 25-year-old Develtrick Adair, fishtail and hit a guardrail on eastbound Highway 175 near Prairie Creek. His car came to a resting top in the middle of the highway.
Conerly was one of a few people to pull off to the side and help Adair out of his wrecked car. One of the people who stopped to help was a woman, identified as 56-year-old Theresa Ware, in an SUV. According to Conerly, Ware helped Adair out of his car before heading back to find his identity and call for help.
While searching the car, Ware was hit by a pickup truck. She later died at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. WFAA has since learned that she actually worked at that hospital.

“What is so touching about her brave heroic effort is she stopped to make sure he was okay and make sure he got help,” Conerly said. “To see her laying in the street is just heartbreaking.”
The driver of the pickup did stop and Dallas County Sheriff deputies said he or she won't be charged.
Adair has been charged with DUI.
