LANCASTER -- A man has turned himself in after shooting the mother of his three children and killing her boyfriend at an IHOP restaurant off Interstate 35E in Lancaster on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded about 1:50 p.m. to the IHOP just north of West Belt Line Road, where the two victims were in front of the restaurant, according to a news release.
Mylik Butcher, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Destinee Franks, 21, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Tadarrius Winters, later turned himself in to the Duncanville Police Department, the news release said.
Franks told police that Winters is the father of her three children. She said he came to her place of work asking about text messages he saw exchanged between her and Butcher, her boyfriend. That's when he fired several shots at the couple, killing Butcher.
Winters has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
