GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — The search for a driver who fatally struck a 42-year-old cyclist Sunday in Grand Prairie comes to an end after she turned herself into police late Tuesday.
Police identified the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash as 38-year-old Kallie Wright, of Fort Worth.
She has been booked into the Grand Prairie Police Detention Center and charged with accident involving death, a second degree felony with a bond set at $175,000.
According to police, Wright was driving along Belt Line Road at the I-20 eastbound frontage road when her vehicle struck 42-year-old Calvin John Middleton, Jr., of Cedar Hill, at about 6 a.m. Sunday. Middleton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wright fled the scene in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, which was later located and seized by authorities, Grand Prairie police announced Tuesday in a statement. Police didn't reveal where the vehicle was located.
Wright, who hasn't been located, has been charged with an accident involving a death, a second degree felony.
Grand Prairie police were able to identify a passenger who was in the car with Wright at the time of the fatal incident. However, authorities said the passenger isn't considered a suspect.
